Who We Are

as someone who loves all things dark and spooky, when I started my bridal career in 2018, surrounded by various shades of white, ivory and pink, I was slightly uncomfortable. The gowns were beautiful, but they were so… light. Nothing like what I had pictured being my bridal look as a child - (hint: black).

I mean sure, fashion was an interest of mine, and I did get my first sewing machine at 8 (purple and sparkly, thanks Grandma <3) but, I thought it would be temporary job.

However, that feeling of helping someone find their gown was special. I grew to love being surrounded by beautiful fabrics and started learning bridal alterations. As I learnt more about the construction of gowns, accessories and menswear, I developed an excitement and curiosity that still stands today.

18 months later, one of my favourite labels introduced their first black gown. It quickly became one of their best sellers and I knew there were others like me who wanted something different. Later, I remember falling in love with a gown I saw (in black!!) in a store’s window during the annual bridal showings.

I told anyone who would listen that it was my dress for years, but when I finally got to try it on, it didn’t feel right. There was no spark, no emotions, I didn’t even take any pictures.

I have found myself having to design something that felt unique to me - and in doing so, the idea for Midnight veil came to mind!
